Femoral Hernia

Hernia is defined as the outpouching of an organ or a part of it against the wall of the cavity that normally holds it causing it to protrude outwardly. In the case of a femoral Hernia it is located in the femoral area near the inner thigh. I have added a link to an article that gives examples of other types which can be accessed below

When it hurts it hurts

I have found that my hernia bothers me more when I am spending to much time on my feet standing around and when it hurts it hurts. I had a number of people at my place last night for a party and a few times had to sit or lay down for a bit to feel better, Now the day after I am feeling not to sore in the hernia but more nausea. I am trying to figure out if it is from the hernia, lack of good sleep or just normal messed up hormones from the pregnancy

Possible Femoral Hernia

Please (enter choice deity here) if this is the reason for my pain and discomfort in this area, let it be manageable by tylenol and not get worse. Let it not impede my mobility or bother me so that I can enjoy the rest of this pregnancy in comfort. Thank you

I just went to see my doctors colleague yesterday due to the problem I was experiencing coming back less than a week later.  I shared my story and what my concerns were along with what some may call TMI. I literally pulled my pants down in the room and said it was in this area that the bulge was noticeable yesterday and not so much here. She examined the area both standing and laying commenting how much more pronounced the bulge was standing up. I was happy that she described what she felt as egg shaped as that was how it had felt to me the day before.

Lets go back a week now so you understand the whole concern/story. I was getting ready for date night and noticed that I had a bulging area just below my panty line that when touched hurt a bit. I made a mental note to keep an eye on it and went out on my date. Being 24 weeks pregnant any issues down there tend to get me wondering about them. The next day it was worse and hubby made me go and have it looked at. I went to the medicentre to have it looked at being that this all happened on a weekend when my OB's office was closed and didn't need to go to emergency. The doctor took a look and ruled out an ingrown hair as the cause and said it looked like an infection and ordered a urinalysis to check, prescribed Tylenol for the pain and said to take it easy. Well when I got no call from the medicentre or OB ( had a copy of the results sent their) and the pain/swelling was gone I thought it was okay. Then a few days later it was back and hurt more than before. I was unable to get looked at that day but my OB's Office fit me in first thing the next day.

Back to today, I am still feeling some pain/discomfort in the area but it has been manageable with TYlenol. I have started a separate blog on this topic as I am sure it will continue to be a topic of importance to my pregnancy. Also I  have found that the information on Hernia's in Pregnancy to be either minimal or very medicall.
