Light at the end of the Carpel Tunnel

11/27/2014

Well I can now add having carpel tunnel to the long list of pregnancy symptoms  I have been "lucky" enough to experience. For me it started with a stiff feeling and a kind of tingling sensation  in my fingers. I got worried when the feelings did not go away as I have had before and made an appointment with my GP. I thought for a bit that maybe it was arthritis or some other kind of joint pain problem. After a visit wit my doctor It was confirmed that I had carpel tunnel due to pregnancy.  I did some research on it and it is more common in later stages of pregnancy than I thought. I also talked to others about their own experiences.  Most that I have talked to said theirs went away after they delivered their babies and was manageable by massage and wearing braces.

I started with wearing the brace on my right hand and it kinda helped. After wearing braces for a bit I had a day where the pain was significant and decided to try massage to see if it would help. The massage worked and afterwords I felt relatively pain and discomfort free. I thought I had found a great way to deal with this carpel tunnel problem. The massage helped loosen the muscles in the hand and push the fluids that had built up in the area. Sad to say the pains were back the next day and the braces were back on to stay.

I have now tried both and find that the braces are probably the best avenue for me in regards to dealing with this problem at the moment.  They do not take away all the pain or tingling that I have experienced with the carpel tunnel, but it has helped to decreased them. Carpel tunnel is a strange feeling to have and to explain to someone who has not experienced it themselves.

Have you ever noticed?  Pregnancy Aches and Pains

8/15/2014

Have you ever noticed how many aches and pains you have or notice when you are pregnant? Wigth this pregnancy I am finding that I have had or noticed more aches and pains associated with it. This can be from the position of the placenta, size and number of babies or from previous pregnancies. In my case  I think some alot of this  can be attributed to the pregnancy losses I had in pregnancy 1 and 3. These kinds of losses make a person more vigilant about what is happening with there bodies or some may call it paranoid.
Myself I would prefer to error on the side of caution and get checked out than run the risk of putting my life or that of my unborn child in danger.  This is what saved my life with the ectopic pregnancy and today's visit gave me a sense of piece. It is very easy for a person to think of all the scary possibilities of what something is or dismiss what could be a possible danger. Lucky for me it is not anything that is dangerous to this pregnancy. The babies heartbeat was a good strong 143BPM.

Pregnancy Brain - Myth or Reality?

7/2/2014

Many people wonder if pregnancy brain is real and I am here to say yes it is real. I have had moments where I forget for a minute what I was going to do or say. Sometimes I forget names and how to do something I have done a million times. Okay, a million may be exaggerating but here is a [rime example of Baby Brain. At my regular OB appointment we did the normal how are things going, measuring where you should be and see you in 4 weeks. Normally I would then go and book the next appointment but this time went right to the car and told hubby about the appointment. Then did a Homer and walk back in to book my next appointment. See Pregnancy Brain really exists.

Its 6Am and I am blogging because I cant Sleep

It is 6 AM And I am awake and out of bed. Not the kind of awake where you feel refreshed but the kind where you wish you could go back to sleep but wonder if you will be more tired if you do? What will my day be like if I go back to sleep or stay up?
I am finding this time that I am having more nights of bad sleep mostly from having trouble finding a comfortable sleep position and the rest from having to get up to peee all the time....TMI? as I said in a past post, get over it.  A person shares more than just their bathroom routine with their doctor, the residents, the nurses and ultrasound or lab techs, so might as well get used to sharing everything.
As I am reading this I can see how the lack of sleep is making me witchy as I call it. I know that I have had to consciously make a few word choices to keep this post polite and yet still open and honest. Like no coffee, lack of sleep makes this girl irritable, grouchy, low on patience and down right witchy.

Pregnancy and Weight Gain

4/30/2014

When you get pregnant they say not start to really gain wait until after the first trimester and I have not which is good. Okay, maybe a pound or so depending on the day and how much water weight I have. I do know that I am experiencing some bloating that is making me look much more pregnant than I am. I know witht the second a person does show sooner but 9 weeks still seems early this seems crazy. I have heard people say that it is as a result of the body memory and its ability to remember past pregnancies. All I Know is that I start the day looking 9 weeks and end the day looking closer to twelve. I hope my 1st prenatal visit tomorrow gives me some answers and a sense that my tummy girth is normal.
